Reflection for the Month – September

Behold the lilies of the field

Now I am no gardener, but I cannot fail to be amazed at the glorious variety of flowers that grow even in my tiny patch out the back. Multiply this millions of times over and wonder at the beauty and diversity of our Creator’s garden. When Jesus talked about the lilies of the field (Matt 6 v 28) his message was telling us not to worry. If God gives such attention to the appearance of wild flowers, many of which, are never seen, will He not give far more attention to us? Of course we must care for the good of ourselves and of others and God may tell us to wait, but He never tells us to worry!Worry does not get rid of the trials and challenges of tomorrow in whatever form they take. Worry simply robs today of its joy.  Put aside for a few moments the getting that at times can drive us to desperation. Think instead of the lilies of the field and all of the other wonders which God has given us, We are blessed indeed.
